“I call on you to love me” is a documentary of the creation process of La Cachada Teatro's play about women maquila workers. For this process the actresses have immersed themselves in this reality with the powerful opportunity to see their real-life characters in the eye, listening to their dreams, wounds and convictions.

You will enter this world of threads, needles and buttons guided by a woman, telling you of her youth and her present. We will portray the transformation of their struggle, combined with scenes from La Cachada’s play.

This documentary is based on four theatre workshops that took place with women ‘maquila’ workers with the assistance of our project partner the feminist organisation Mujeres Transformando (Transforming Women) - an orgnisation that looks after the rights of women, especially women working as ‘maquilas’. In the workshops we got to know in depth the reality of the workers, in a safe space where they could express themselves and relax.
